Our location
Cottage on the Brook is located in Braithwaite in the Northern Lake District at the foot of the Whinlatter Pass. The cottage sits on Coledale Brook along a private driveway with expansive views of Barrow and the surrounding hills around it. Braithwaite is served by a regular bus service and is within walking distance of Keswick town centre.

Braithwaite
Nestled at the foot of the Coledale Horseshoe just 2.5 miles outside of the historic market town of Keswick is the Cumbrian village of Braithwaite. Served by a village shop, cafe and three pubs all serving ales and great food, it's an ideal location for enjoying everything the Lakes has to offer.
The village provides direct access to the northern hills such as Grisedale Pike, Crag Hill, Barrow, Lords Seat and Causey Pike and a short hike east brings you to the foot of Catbells and Derwentwater. The B5292 western road out of Braithwaite leads directly to Whinlatter Forest offering mountain bike trails and easy forest walking paths.
Cockermouth, providing supermarkets and shops is a 15 minute drive away easily accessed by the A66 along the west side of Bassenthwaite.
Keswick
Located on the east shore of Derwentwater, Keswick is the most northern major town in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Home to the world famous Derwent Pencil Factory and the Theatre on the Lake, this historic market town is known for its bustling street market, traditional pubs and cobbled side streets. Traditionally, Keswick was known as the 'walkers' destination and today it hosts festivals and events celebrating it's historic relationship with the mountains.
The east shore of Derwentwater, considered one of the most beautiful bodies of water in England, can be accessed from the town where the Keswick Launch Company offer Lake Cruises and Boat Hire. There are numerous walks around the shores of Derwentwater and the Newlands Valley to the south of the town.

The Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covers 912 sq miles and attracts over eighteen million visitors a year from all over the world. It's sixteen (official!) Lakes are surrounded by undulating mountain ranges boasting nine of the ten highest peaks in England including Scafell Pike, Englands highest peak. Its market towns are rich in Cumbrian history offering insights into the worlds of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth as well as providing visitors with cosy hospitality (and a welcome escape from the famous Cumbrian weather!)
As well as providing outstanding access to the area the cottage is also only 30 minutes from the west coast of Cumbria offering beautiful beaches and views across the Irish Sea.
